Many employers have offered gift cards, a day off from work, cash and other financial incentives to convince workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19. As vaccination rates have stalled, some are considering adding health coverage surcharges for the unvaccinated to drive up vaccination rates in their workforce. Implementing a COVID-19 premium surcharge wellness program comes with some compliance challenges and little guidance.
